Community Impact Grants for Children Services and COVID-19 Relief
(April 22, 2022 Newton, KS) Central Kansas Community Foundation (CKCF) is pleased to announce the 2022 Central Kansas Community Foundation Kids FUNd grantees which are funded from proceeds from the L. Marie Haun Charitable Fund for Children, as well as, grantees who received COVID-19 Relief and Community Resiliency grants.
Kids FUNd
Since 2005, the Kids FUNd has been supporting local projects and programs serving kids. Originally, this fund was supported by the Sand Creek Station Pro/Am Golf Tournament and private donations. After 2012, the Pro/Am completed their support of the fund and the Haun Charitable Fund was started as a means of continuing the provision of making grants to kid-serving charities. The L. Marie Haun Charitable Fund for Children has awarded over $250,000 since 2013 to organizations who have interest in children’s behavioral research, child welfare, teaching parent skills, and/or strengthening families.
This year, $23,000 was given to 11 organizations that are providing programs and projects to support area children and families. This was narrowed down from 23 applicants with requests of nearly $59,000. Covid-19 Relief for Community Resiliency
Grants for Covid-19 Relief for Community Resiliency were made possible through the support of Funders Network. Central Kansas Community Foundation has a five-year relationship with the Funders Network, an organization in Coral Gables, FL, who has supported our work in disaster preparedness and response. The purpose of the $20,000 grant award from Funders Network, that CKCF in turn used to fund grantees listed below, is to provide support for organizations in the CKCF service area that have had past expenses or have anticipated expenses associated with the Covid-19 pandemic response.
We were pleased to have 18 applications for these funds, all from organizations who are doing important and intentional work to serve people in the broad CKCF service area and support the continued recovery efforts from the pandemic. That total request was $54,519.31 with a distribution of $20,000. Today’s awards to the 11 finalists range from $500 to $3,500.
Susan Lamb, CKCF Disaster Support Coordinator said, “While we are hopeful that we are beyond the pandemic, we realize that many of our charitable partners are still in the recovery process, and we are pleased to be able to utilize this generous award from the Funders Network to support your important work.”
